New Exhibit Captures Nature in Motion

For Susanna Euston, photography is a way of life. Using Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), she creates in-camera techniques that capture nature in motion. Her intention in creating abstract images in-camera is two-fold: to emphasize the form and energy of a scene as she senses it at the moment of capture, and to create a painterly effect without the use of the many Photoshop plugins available. With a strong focus on trees captured on the Arboretum's campus, as well as throughout Western North Carolina's wild mountain lands and parks, Euston celebrates the energetic flow of trees and nature throughout the seasons. Susanna's stunning exhibit will be on display through October 13 on the second floor of the Education Center. All artworks are available for purchase, and a portion of the sales will be donated to The North Carolina Arboretum Society.

"Contemplative Art in an Age of Distraction" featured large, fine art landscape images by photographers Matthew Kraus, Rick Daley, Bonnie Cooper and Susanna Euston. Four three-dimensional artists, including Steven Forbes-deSoule (Raku), Lynn Forbes (Ikebana), Rob Levin (Blown Glass), and Paige Hougton (Fiber) joined them with their beautiful artwork. Curated by Susanna, the show was held at the Asheville Area Arts Council, 207 Coxe Ave., Asheville, NC, 28801, from June 29 through July 27, 2018.

GROUP SHOW: "Peaceful Appalachians" — Susanna curated the show for the Carolinas' Nature Photographers Association, Asheville Region. She has one print from her Infrared Collection in the show, on exhibit at the Green Sage Cafe, Westgate until January 15, 2018.

Beyond the Visible: Infrared Photography of Nature, July 1 - October 1, 2016, at Green Sage Cafe, South, 1800 Hendersonville Rd., Asheville, NC. This show explored the landscape using infrared photography.
