Our tentative program schedule (and what you’ll learn!) includes:

Friday Afternoon — 3:00 p.m. — If you’re staying at Mountain Lens Retreat, you may check in at 3:00 p.m. and relax or explore the grounds until we gather at 4:00 p.m.

Friday Evening — 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

We’ll gather for drinks & hor d’oeuvres

  • Introductions
  • Color & Light: An Overview
  • Vision: Exploring Intentional Camera Movement 
  • The Equipment — Camera, Lenses, Filters, and Other Tools
  • Craft: Creative Techniques

 

Saturday Morning — 8:30 a.m. to noon

We'll explore Mountain Lens beautiful 20 acres of trails and streams to capture ICM images. If the color is past, we will go to another location.   

 

 

Lunch Break —  Noon to 12:30 p.m. Please bring a "bag lunch"

Saturday Afternoon — 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

We'll continue capturing images after lunch at Mountain Lens or another location.

Saturday Evening — Dinner on your own and processing of the day's captures.

Sunday Morning — 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

  • Post-processing continued
  • Critique of images created on Saturday
  • Review & Discussion

Date to be determined — Optional 3-hour follow-up gathering in person or via Skype to answer questions and critique images.

We'll depart Mountain Lens at 8:00 a.m. to drive to an area of the nearby Pisgah National Forest (decision on specific location will be made a few days before the workshop) to practice creating Abstract Landscape images.  


 

Lunch Break — Noon to 12:30 p.m. Please bring a "bag lunch"

Saturday Afternoon — 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

We'll head to Brevard to work with abstract urban, street images.

Post-processing Techniques 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Basic Processing in Lightroom
  • NIK & Other Plug-ins

Saturday Evening — Dinner on your own, or as a group.

Sunday Morning — 9:00 a.m. to Noon
